Keyword Match Type Generator
Use this simple tool to generate different keyword match types for your Google or Bing PPC campaigns. Keyword match types are an important factor to consider when setting up a PPC campaign. By utilizing different match types, you can improve your campaigns' reach and gain more qualified leads.
There are four different keyword match types used in PPC campaigns: broad, exact, phrase, and modified broad match.
Understanding Keyword Match Types
Keyword match types are used by search engine marketers to determine how closely a keyword must match a user's search query in order for the keyword to trigger an ad. The four main keyword match types that are Broad, broad match modifier, phrase and exact match. We will also look at negative keywords.
Broad Match
A broad match allows your ad to appear when someone searches a phrase that includes your keywords in any order or with other words in between. Broad match is the default setting of any PPC campaign and is the least specific of the four match types.

Broad Match Modifier
As of July 2021 this match type is no longer supported by Google. You can use the phrase match type instead. The "Modified broad match" adds a plus sign (+) before the keywords to further broaden the scope of the search while still retaining some control over what searches your ad appears for. So in this case your ad will only appear in search results if the search query contains all keywords that has the preceding plus sign. The order of the keywords are irrelevant.

Phrase Match
Phrase match is similar to exact match, but allows additional words before or after the phrase without changing the original meaning of the keyword. For example, if an advertiser's phrase match keyword is "shoes for men", their ad could be shown for searches like "buy shoes for men", "shoes for men adidas" or "affordable shoes for men". Phrase match keywords are enclosed inside quotation marks.

Exact Match
Exact match is one of the most specific match types and only allows advertising for exact searches containing the exact term or phrase. It tells the search engine to only show your ad when a person searches for the exact keyword exactly as you have written it. This means that if you bid on the keyword "running shoes", your ad will only be shown if someone types "running shoes" exactly into the search engine. Exact match keywords are enclosed inside square brackets.

Negative keywords
Negative keywords are words or phrases that you add to a keyword campaign in order to prevent your ads from appearing when users search for terms related to those keywords. For example, you might add the word "free" as a negative keyword if you're only looking to target people who are willing to pay for your product or service. So your ad for the keyword "free ppc service" would not show up. Negative keywords are indicated with a (-) minus sign in fron of them.
